ELECTION

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Election is exclusively the act of God, in his Sovereignty, to select certain individuals, men and women, from humanity and confer on them His salvation. This act occurred in eternity past, thus before the earth’s foundation was laid (PRETEMPORAL). It anticipated the cross on which Christ’s sacrificial death made that salvation historically possible.  Election was not based on human merit, human faith, or any acts or beliefs of man that God knew would occur, but based solely and freely on His own good pleasure and will and for His glory. Thus we refer to Election as UNCONDITIONAL, i.e., not conditioned by any foresight on human decisions, faith, will, merit, piety, acts, etc. Election is also UNMERITED because it has to do with the love of God and the Grace of God.

Please read John 10: 10, John 3: 16, 36; Ephesians 1: 3-8;1 Peter 1: 3-5 etc.
